Tomáš Tomeček Winner of the Africa Eco Race
On January 9, 2011, the Tatra racing special rode through the Senegal metropolis of Dakar as the fastest truck, piloted by Tomáš Tomečka and navigator Vojtěch Morávek, becoming the victor of the third annual Africa Eco Race. This race is attempting to return to the African continent the prestigious rallies building on the tradition of the famous Dakar Rally, which moved to South America in 2009.
Twelve phases of exceptionally challenging terrain over a more than 5,000 Km long route verified the absolute reliability of the air-suspension system and RUBENA air-spring bellows that enabled the winning team to quickly and comfortably carry out recovery and repair work. The excellent readiness of the competing Tatra vehicle, the team and the entourage of the Letka Racing Team was also confirmed by the attainment of 5th place in the final overall ranking.
