Jan Škarnitzl – Vice Champion of the Czech Republic

The final day of the 24th Czech Cross Country National Championships in Řepy, Prague was marked by gruelling high temperatures. The highlight of the championship was the cross country Elite Men category race, which included all the Czech Republic’s top riders. Jaroslav Kulhavý, handled the heat best and led the race from the first of ten laps. His lead was almost pulled back in the second half by Jan Škarnitzl (Sram Rubena Trek), who eventually finished the race with a loss of just seven seconds. However, he was happy with runner-up position. "It was hell today. But I’m happy, I rode really well," said the recent European Championship bronze medallist.
Rubena was undoubtedly one of the most popular brand tyres at the championship, used by five of the competitors in the Top 10 Elite Men category.
